The Inevitable #5 Rivalry Part I By C. William Russette
Pollock Riston was a beast of a man in size and demeanor. Standing over six foot six and carrying the bulking musculature one would see on a professional wrestler made capturing Riston a challenge for the crew. Jack Casso gave the order to bring him to the basement of Veils, one of Casso's erotic dancing parlors. Eligio ‘Eli' Framo, a short but stocky member of Casso's crew had been seconds from electrocuting the giant Riston to death with a taser. Only the presentation of Salvatore Addazio's shotgun had reminded Eli that the crew Capo, Jack Casso, had given explicit instructions to bring in the target alive. The Capo's name had calmed the killer instinct of Eli. A former crew member had failed to follow instructions once. Casso's reaction was burned into the remainder of the crew's memory.
"Again," Sal Addazio said.
Riston was duct taped to a metal chair that had been bolted to the floor. His mouth was covered with more of the tape, his huge arms bound from wrist to elbow. He had struggled, and did still, but his strength was fading. Riston's green eyes were aflame with hatred for his captors. Achille Turrito, amateur knife fighter stepped forward and carved an X into Riston's bald head. Riston did not scream but stared through the knife fighter.
"You feel like talkin yet?" Sal asked.
Riston fired two muffled words that Sal had no problem understanding.
"Why don't you just let me handle him?" Eli asked from his damp, cement corner snuffing out his second cigarette in ten minutes.
"Because yer gonna kill him, Eli," Achille said examining his handiwork.
